A new link has been added on our Cameronians links page:

This refers to the Armed Forces Memorial. Dedicated on Friday 12th October 2007. The dedication ceremony was led by HG The Archbishop of Canterbury and attended by HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall.

This is the first national memorial dedicated to the men and women of the United Kingdom Armed Forces (Regular and Reserve) killed on duty or as a result of terrorist action since the Second World War. The Memorial is located at the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas in Staffordshire.

The Memorial start date is 1 January 1948, which follows on directly from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission which commemorates those who died up to 31 December 1947. The one exception is for those killed in Palestine who are included on the Memorial.
